Our KickStart program commissions Canadian choreographers, challenging them to develop and perform a short work based on an Asian idea, concept, or practice - that represents a significant new direction or constructive disruption to their approach to choreography.
CanAsian Dance is proud to announce the six talented artists, who have received commissions to create
four eclectic and provocative new works in our KickStart program.
They are:
Shion Skye Carter (Vancouver) and Miya Turnbull (Halifax) working with Dramaturg Julie Tamiko Manning
Marbella Carlos aka Joy Rider (Montreal) working with Dramaturg Gerard X Reyes
Yui Ugai (Toronto) and Ashvini Sundaram (Vancouver) working with Dramaturg Anita LaSelva
Katherine Ng (Ottawa) working with Dramaturg Daniel Mroz
