DANCE TALKS
Dance Talks brings together a group of Asian diaspora dance artists to engage in a more in-depth conversation about critical and artistic questions and themes with one another, while the public participates as active listeners, with the opportunity to contribute to the conversation at the halfway point. Each conversation offers a relaxed setting that promotes conversation over lecture. The Fishbowl conversations inspire the format of these conversations.
Dance Talks may be an addendum event to a show/production (a more in-depth conversation than a post-show talk with the artists and guests that goes beyond the presentation), or a stand-alone
We aim to hold these events outside of performance spaces that are both welcoming and accessible, such as public Libraries. Beyond engaging with the general public and inspiring new dance audiences, the events will foster dialogue among Asian diasporic dance artists and encourage the exploration of differences, commonalities and candid perspectives. Some conversations may have facilitators to help hold space and help the conversation.
